Fancy brightening the walls of your home? Of course you do!!
A pom pom wreath is a great way to add to your own Art collection all year round and it's sooo easy to achieve a personalised look.
What you need:
YARN, mix it up, go wild with colours and textures
Cardboard (old cereal boxes are great or anything found around the home) or a pom pom maker
A pair of compass', for the cardboard option, (like you used to have at school but NEVER used)
Sharp scissors, small and large
Old wire hanger (pulled out to the desired shape), firm wire alternative or a wreath structure
Glue Gun, for the ready made wreath option
If you have little to zero yarn:
A) Ask around family & friends to use some of theirs, I'm sure you can do a swap of some other treats!
B) Pop onto eBay, search yarn bundles or oddments, under used there is always a bargain to be had
C) Head down to your Charity Shop, they usually have lots and you are helping a great cause
If possible, try to keep your wreath sustainable as there is so much already out there.

Pom pointers:
Mix up the sizes, for variation you can add different colours into the same pom or you can do lots of plain ones to match your fav colour palette.
Make more pom's then you think you need, remember they will need to go around the sides as well as the front to make her full and fabulous.
To make a pom with cardboard:
Use your compass to make two identical doughnut shapes. Ensure the circumference of the smallest pom maker is at least 1.5 inches, you will need a new set for each size you desire.
Cut the doughnuts out, including the fiddly middle bits!
Line the doughnuts up against each other and start loading them up with yarn, wrapping it around the cardboard through the hole in the middle. You'll need cut a length from the ball of yarn before wrapping, but take in sections so you don't get tangled!
The more you wrap the denser you pom will be, you will want to fill in the hole for a fuller pom.
It's entirely your design and playtime so do what feels right to you, remember this is a personal project with no one to please!

Cut around the outside, between each cardboard doughnut, being careful not to jiggle with excitement too much otherwise you may lose her.
Once cut all the way round, grab a piece of yarn long enough to tie around the middle, between the two cardboard rings. Be sure to double knot her so she doesn't come out.
Pull her out from the middle hole and voila you have your first pom bebe!
To make a pom with a maker:
If you are using a pom maker, you can jiggle with excitement much more!
Take the first half and wrap and wrap until you can't wrap no more!
Guide your yarn though the section to the other half and continue to wrap, again you can cut off this yarn and introduce other colours or textures.
Clip the maker closed and cut around the edge, the same as the cardboard, and secure with a length of yarn, before pulling her free to begin her new pom life.
REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT
Trimming your pom:
Now for the fun part! Once you've completed all pom's you will need to trim the edges to give her the roundness you require, don't be too erratic at this point or you'll end up giving her a Mohawk (unless that's what you want, then go for it!)
Now you can see your bebe's coming to life.
On the smaller ones, don't cut the piece of yarn used to secure her as this will be used later on.
Sustainability tip:
Save all the off cuts to make something fab at a later date!
Fixing your Pom:
Depending on how your feeling you can arrange your pom's around your structure before committing or just go for it!
I like to pop the similar colours in a pile and then randomly place onto the structure as I go, the more you other think it the harder it becomes.
If you have an open-ended wire structure feed the large pom's though the wire to keep secure. To add volume to your wreath, tie on the smaller pom's tightly amongst the others using the length of yarn you left whilst trimming them earlier.
Alternatively, if you have used a wreath structure, grab the glue gun and just go WILD.

Hanging your wreath:
If you have used a wire hanger you will have a ready-made hanger! FANTASTIC.
Alternatively, you can use a length of plaited yarn and wrap up between the pom's on the structure.
Make sure she is fastened tight.
Now hang your new bebe somewhere you can appreciate her always!
Craft shouldn't be an occasion it should be everyday.
