Floral headbands aren't just for festivals! They are for WHENEVER you fancy!! I've been wearing mine in my WFH office (the dining table ha!)

A Floral headband is a perfect addition to your accessories collection and you can make it yours!

What you need:

  • Fake flowers - Fabric or Plastic

  • Thin wire

  • Alice Band

  • Pliers

  • Ribbon (optional)

  • Scissors

  • Glue Gun, if using ribbon

Keep it in the house:

A) Ready to refresh your fake flower display, don't chuck 'em, use these!

B) Use a preloved Alice band - then you can hide her sins with beautiful ribbon

C) I used gardening wire (for the protective coating), the options are endless have a rummage around your home

Floral suggestions:

Vary the blooms; you can keep to similar colours but different types. Or mix up the colours with the same types orrrrrr BOTH!

Flowers come in all shapes and sizes, pick what works best for you, she wants to be worn with confidence, she is for YOU!

Using ribbon?:

I have opted to use an old headband I already had, as she is black I wanted to make her suit my floras. I also already had the perfect blue ribbon!

Cut the start of your ribbon on the diagonal to stop it fraying.

Use the glue gun to secure the end of the ribbon round the end of the band, then wrap around, making sure to slightly overlap it to conceal the headband below.

Glue gun at random points on the inside to keep secure, but it's not needed all the way round!

Again cut the end of the ribbon on the diagonal, you may have to faff with it a little to tuck in the end, making sure to secure with the glue gun. The thing to note is to keep the tension the same all the way round, my Alice band is squishy so I found this harder.

The cherry on top:

Your flowers will more than likely have stems, you'll want to remove these gently and you should then be left with a hole in the 'pollen' area.

Cut off a length of wire and make a little knot at one end, see below image.

Pass this through; knot at flower end and voila you have your new stem!

REPEAT until you have enough to fill your headband. You can arrange as you go to check the amount you'll need.

Fixing your Floras:

Hold the head of your floral securely on the top of the Alice band, wrap the wire round and back up. Tie it securely, like a tie wrap, back at the head.

Keep doing this until you are happy, make sure no ends of the wires are unsafe on the underside, wrapping them all up top.

Remember she doesn't have to be super neat as when she is on your head, all is hidden.

I chose not to make my bebe symmetrical, just like a floral display, however you create as you wish!

Wear her with pride, she deserves it!

Craft shouldn't be an occasion, it should be everyday.
